It’s that time of the year in the Bay Area where you think for a moment that it’s finally summer — you have a beautiful day in the sun walking around downtown from drag brunch to drag brunch day drunk with your friends — and then the next day you leave the house in short shorts and its grey skies with highs in the low 60s. But even though your knees are cold and exposed, you’re still hanging on to that moment of pure California bliss which reminded you why you pay so much to live here.
That’s kind of what throwing events is like. These days I am deep in the weeds of organizing the festival while also getting ready for Glamputee’s LEGacy Ball in just a few weeks AND I’m in currently tech week for VivvyAnne ForeverMORE’s new show boycow at CounterPulse which I’m helping produce. It’s a lot of people and contracts and timelines and things to keep track of and it’s easy to get lost in just how much there is to do. But I hope I never take for granted that I’ve made a whole career putting on these kinds of events, because when it’s finally showtime it’s all more than worth it.
Which is why I’m so excited that it’s officially…

Thursday May 8th @ The Chan
In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, join us at The Chan National Queer Arts Center for an immersive and thought-provoking experience showcasing the latest works by multidisciplinary nonbinary artist, activist, and Oaklash Board Member Jethro Patalinghug.
Kaanyag, an Indigenous Cebuano term meaning "beauty" or "charm," holds deep personal significance for Jethro. First introduced to them during a queer and trans beauty pageant in their hometown in the Philippines, this term embodies their queer Indigenous roots and the vibrant beauty of marginalized identities.
The event is free to attend, but all suggested donations through Eventbrite will go to support the GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance and a portion of the art sales will also benefit Oaklash!
